Originally trained as an historian at Yale
University in the United States, Christina Anderson furthered her university
studies in Italy and Belgium in the areas of art history, textiles, architectural
restoration and music. After many years of running her own business
in Belgium, she moved to London where her work for Sotheby’s, the international
auction house, included research for the sale of the Leverhulme collection.
Wishing to expand on her experience in historical methodology and the
writing of catalogue entries, she founded her own art and antiques research
service after leaving Sotheby’s.
Christina has been privileged to work with a number of well-respected
dealers and is a member of both the Furniture History and Regional Furniture
Societies in the UK. She has participated in the Attingham Trust
Study Week and travelled as a private guide for individuals and couples
throughout Europe.
She is the recipient of a 2002 Regional Furniture Society bursary
in order to research the furniture of Sir Robert Lorimer and W. Scott
Morton.
On Fridays at 17:00, from Easter to the end of October, she can be heard
playing the carillon (bells played from a tower with a baton keyboard) in
Old Bond Street in Central London.
